Customized Training

Training that is customized for how you learn, using our unique Multi-Dimensional Accelerated Training Methodology (MATM).

More Info
PHAZE employs its unique Multi-Dimensional Accelerated Training Methodology (MATM) to get its students the skills they need to get into the workforce ASAP. More than 20 years in the building and construction, and manufacturing sectors has resulted in a unique training approach for this skill set. PHAZE’ MATM (Multi-dimensional Training Methodology) offers students individualized training, i.e. one on one instruction, curated to the student’s skills and interests, and customized to the student’s learning style. This happens within an accelerated time-frame and in a setting that encourages the individual to set their own pace.

Industry Recognized

PHAZE’ instructional programs are driven by the needs of local, regional and national industry partners.
More Info
Graduates of PHAZE are in demand from local companies. PHAZE’ industry partners inform PHAZE’ training so that students are equipped with the skills that are specifically needed by local businesses.

Led by a Master Welder

When Dan Guillou opened his construction business 20 years ago, he couldn’t have predicted that it would be almost impossible to find skilled welders.
More Info
Through trial and error over a period of 10 years, Dan trained novice welders so that he could complete major welding construction projects around the region. By the end of it, Dan discovered that anyone could learn how to weld if they had the desire and if the instructor could understand how they learn and at what pace. PHAZE was borne from Dan’s own passion of building major structures around the region and the realization that if he didn’t do something to bring new weldes into the field, construction as he knew it would come to a complete halt. Dan has built buildings all around the country and the world; from hospitals to office buildings and manufacturing facilities to pharmaceutical labs. Dan’s background as a welder in his experience in building many types of structures is underlined by his innate curiosity for how things are engineered. Because of this students benefit from his background in science, mechanics, design, hydraulics and many other disciplines…..

Program | Work Ready Intro to Welding

This course is approved for NHDHHS.DES / WorkNow NH and is a (MATM) hands-on course that is designed for people who wish to learn the rudiments of welding, whether for (ELE) entry level employment, home / school projects or for artistic work. In this intensive course, attendees learn the basics of the major welding processes of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW, or “stick” welding), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW, or MIG welding), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW or TIG welding). In addition to welding processes, attendees become familiar with cutting processes using Oxy-Fuel or Plasma technologies. The overall goal of this course is for attendees to be able to operate welding equipment and materials safely, and to be familiar with welding operations on steel, stainless steel (TIG only) and aluminum (TIG only).

Program | AWS D1.1 Certification

This course is designed for people who wish to become “job ready” for entry-level work as an apprentice welder. Phaze Welding Technology Center enjoys excellent relationships with local and regional fabricators, who have been delighted with the skills and work orientation of Phaze graduates. AWS certification and a good recommendation from Phaze are an excellent launching pad for a career in welding. During this course, attendees will prepare and test for the American Welding Society D1.1 Certification, which involves the completion of a challenging standardized practical welding exercise using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW, or “stick” welding). As part of their practical preparation, attendees will become competent with welding steel in the flat, horizontal and vertical “up” positions for butt/groove and fillet welds. At the completion of the course, qualified attendees will be prepared to test for the certification, but their completed test exercise must pass the formal inspection in order for the AWS D 1.1 certification to be awarded. Certification does not guarantee employment, nor does it bypass further employer-specific testing. During the course, attendees will become familiar with and operate equipment similar or identical to the equipment they will encounter in the field. Though the goal of the course is to prepare attendees for the certification test, throughout the course attendees will gain skills in welding processes and technologies (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW), cutting technologies (oxy-fuel, plasma, “zip”-wheel), grinding technologies, and the safe operation of a wide variety of shop tools such as the horizontal band saw, portable band saw, and the magnetic drill press. Attendees will work primarily with steel and stainless steel. This course also teaches rudimentary problem-solving, such as diagnosing and correcting weld deficiencies, managing heat and metal expansion challenges, and the safe movement of equipment and materials.

Program | Fabricator, CNC & CAD Design

PHAZE Welding Technology Center uniquely combines a (MATM) multidimensional accelerated training model with hands-on learning with the environment of a production welding / fabrication shop. The goal of this course is for attendees to become proficient in working with metals and in the various skills required to work in a modern fabrication shop. This includes proficiency training in stick, MIG (gas and flux-core) and TIG welding, but also proficiency with the tools and techniques of fabrication and associated problem-solving. Attendees will become proficient with CNC Plasma, CAD Design, cutting technologies (oxy-fuel, plasma, CNC plasma “zip”-wheel), grinding technologies, and the safe operation of a wide variety of shop tools such as the horizontal band saw, portable band saw, the magnetic drill press, and the drill press / mill. In addition to booth-based welding practice exercises, professional projects become learning experiences for attendees. Depending on the project and the skill level of the attendee, the attendee may observe or participate directly in various aspects of the project – all under close supervision of the instructor. Within the past six months, projects have included the fabrication and installation of ADA-compliant railings for exterior industrial stairs, fabrication of a 60-ton log splitter, repair/refurbishing of stainless steel food processing equipment, extensive repair of a dump trailer, repair of a loading dock assembly, fabrication of welding booths, metal racks and several automotive projects. This course teaches extensive problem-solving, such as weld sequencing, electrode selection, diagnosing and correcting weld deficiencies, managing heat and metal expansion challenges, and the safe movement of equipment and materials.
